FAQs Section – Girls’ Cricket

Still got questions? Here’s everything you need to know 👇

❓ My daughter has never played cricket before. Will she still be OK to join in?

Absolutely. We welcome beginners, and every girl will be able to take part in batting, bowling and fielding right from the first session — no experience needed.

❓ Does it matter if my child has never played or doesn’t know the rules?

Not at all. Most girls start without knowing the rules — everything is introduced in a simple, fun and supportive way.

❓ What do we need to bring and what should we wear?

Just come in comfortable outdoor clothes or PE kit. If it’s warm, bring a hat, suncream and a water bottle. It can get a bit muddy early in the season — so no need for anything special.

❓ When are the sessions?

17th April, 24th April, 1st May, 8th May and 15th May.
We’re hoping to add more sessions as the season progresses.

❓ What happens if it rains?

If the weather is very poor, we will cancel and rearrange. We don’t play in thunder, but light rain may not stop play. Parents will be updated via WhatsApp by 3pm on the day.

❓ What does it cost?

These introductory sessions are completely free.
Junior membership is usually £20 for the season — but for new girls joining these sessions, membership for 2026 will be free.

❓ Can parents stay and watch?

Yes — absolutely. We’d encourage you to stay and watch. If you do need to leave, just let us know.

❓ Can girls progress further if they enjoy cricket?

Yes — while sessions focus on fun and confidence, there are opportunities to develop further.
Several girls from Ulverston have gone on to represent Cumbria and the North.
